FINEX XLPS FILLERS – ALWAYS ONE STEP FURTHER

SPECIALTY POLYMERS IN INVESTMENT CASTING

Cross-linked polystyrene (Styrene and Divinylbenzene co-polymer) is a common filler used in production of synthetic waxes for the so-called lost wax process as used by the Precision Investment Casting industry. Wax fillers have a major influence on the basic physical properties of the investment casting waxes where it is important to ensure that a good surface finish to the investment is achieved. Large portions of the investment casting waxes in current use contain fillers of different type.

Our XLPS fillers are thermally stable and have a similar density to that of the molten base wax to minimise settlement. Finex XLPS fillers have very low ash contents to minimise the amount of undesirable material left behind in the ceramic shell after de-waxing.

Compared to some other filler materials available, Finex XLPS fillers are safe to use both in terms of personal exposure and environmental impact; XLPS fillers are Bisphenol-A free and the Finex manufacturing method also ensures low volatile content due to residual styrene. Furthermore it is a cost effective solution for the investment casting industry.

We offer different grades of XLPS fillers:

  • Finex XLPS Bead, a white translucent bead with a mean particle size of 50 – 90 µm
  • Finex XLPS Ground, a white translucent powder, with a mean particle size 50 – 100 µm
